Serving the citizens of Watauga and providing government transparency.
Realtor.com voted 76148 the “hottest” zip code in America. Due to housing prices, many families are moving here to be near attractions and jobs in other cities. We need new businesses and revitalization of some areas to help keep our money local. Partnership with local businesses, community input and creative planning will help the Watauga economy grow. Other priorities include supporting first responders and community services and events.
I became a teacher because I wanted to serve my community and improve our future, which mirrors the goals of a city council member. My public service experience as an educator provides a beneficial skill set for use as a member of the Watauga City Council. Resourcefulness, responsible spending and making the most of a budget are some of my specialties. Creative problem solving and listening are essential to both education and civic leadership. Listening, gathering information and then acting upon it to achieve a goal is what I plan to bring to city council.

Email: phil_den@swbell.netTo faithfully serve the citizens of Watauga to the best of my ability.I have served four years as a councilman in a city of 50,000. While there I was elected as the President of the Crime Control and Prevention District, the Mayor Pro-tem, and the liaison to the Planning and Zoning Board. The experience gained while performing those duties has given me a wealth of knowledge that I can now use to benefit the citizens of Watauga. I have knowledge of the city budget process, planning and zoning issues, and how best to work with city management in order to attain the maximum use of our tax dollars.
