I believe that I am the best qualified candidate for Burleson School Board as I have a life long investment as a student, educator and administrator in BISD. I attended Burleson schools, graduated from BHS, taught Kindergarten at Frazier Elementary and spent many years serving as a teacher and administrator at Burleson High School. Upon completion of my Principal Certification I served as Assistant Principal at Burleson High School and at Wester Middle School in Mansfield. I continued my career in Mansfield ISD as High School Principal, opening the innovative Ben Barber Career Tech Academy and subsequently opening Frontier High School. Education is my passion, and BISD has been my home. It would be my honor to continue to serve BISD as a member of the School Board. My top priority if elected to BISD School Board is first and foremost, the best possible education of all students in the BISD. Students succeed when teachers succeed, when they are supported, heard and given the respect they deserve. To achieve this, I will focus on making teacher salaries a budgetary priority in order to recruit and retain the most qualified, dedicated teachers. I will maintain a commitment to success and continuous improvement for all students and guarantee adaptability to changing demographics within our community.

If elected to this office, my top priority is teacher pay and benefits. Teacher pay has been neglected for many years as has health benefits and days off. BISD has increased teacher pay only to compensate for the continuous rise in health care costs. Teachers are the most important piece of the education puzzle and must be taken care of. When we take of our teachers, they lead our students to undiscovered boundaries.I am the best qualified candidate for this position because I am a current teacher and (will) have two children in the district. I was raised in Burleson, graduated from Burleson, and raising my family here. Education is my passion as I come from a long line of educators. Having a current teachers’ perspective can impact our school district on a personal level that most school districts do not benefit from.
