Continue refining and improving the outstanding education Grapevine Colleyville ISD students are offered. GCISD took the lead in 2011, implementing a district wide strategic plan that recognizes the change to our world brought about by technology. Students today are preparing for careers that don't yet exist. Our strategic plan, LEAD 2021, was the impetus for change in the delivery of education, as well as an emphasis on skills necessary to cope in a rapidly changing environment. In spite of state funding cuts, we've increased the choices and opportunities for our students as we prepare them for college and career readiness. There is no substitute for first-hand knowledge. I've been heavily involved in our classrooms and on our campuses for close to 25 years. I've been a board member for just 3 years, and I've taken advantage of almost every opportunity offered to visit our classrooms and see what our students get to experience. Last year, as part of my Master Trustee certification, I visited districts across the State and saw for myself that what we are doing here is special. Finally, I have a law degree, and that background is extremely valuable in decision making.

My top priority upon taking office would be to advocate for the analysis of what our predicted academic performance is, based on our demographics, once we identify the specific metrics we desire to measure. Our goal must be to outperform our demographics. Merely comparing raw scores doesn't tell the true story. Raw scores can give a false sense of security in affluent districts.
My extensive successful business experiences as a small business owner (24+ years) and as a senior level executive in the banking industry give me the necessary skill set to evaluate the complex issues a Board faces. Additionally, I am a past President of the Board which gives me the direct hands-on experience to deal with anything that may come to the Board. During my prior service, we ran surplus budgets necessary to rebuild our fund balance while maintaining, or improving, objective academic performance measures in a Robin Hood environment.

My top priority is our students, within the context of fiscal responsibility. I will continue to fight Robin Hood and advocate for eliminating unnecessary and wasteful STAAR tests. I will honor the voters’ commitment to the 2016 bond and ensure the completion of vital safety and security improvements of campuses including secured vestibules at both high schools. I will also preserve rigorous programs such as STEM, GT, iUniversity Prep, and Collegiate Academy. GCISD must continue to move forward with academic excellence, high quality extracurricular opportunities, and career and technical certifications resulting in college, career, and military readiness.I have been a trustee for 3 terms including 2 years Vice President, and earned the designation of Master Trustee. With 3 kids in GCISD, I am a 13-year PTA member as well as GMS & GHS Band, Athletic, and Academic Booster Club member, and District Excellence Committee member. I have been involved in numerous local civic organizations such as the GRACE Board of Directors and Grapevine Chamber Women’s Division. A firm believer in servant leadership, I also served 5 years on the Grapevine P&Z, 2 years as GPARD Liaison, and 2 terms on Roanoke City Council.
