Support the #Dallas9 in Tarrant County!
December 6 - December 11
Note: Begins 8:30am each day, Dec 6 & 9-11
In September 2018, activists from Dallas came to Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, TX to protest the police killings of #BothamShemJean by Dallas police, and #OShaeTerry by Arlington police. At the time, no semblance of justice had been served in either case. Jean’s murderer had just been charged with manslaughter, and the name of Terry’s killer wouldn’t even be released for another month.
While peacefully protesting on a street in front of the stadium, the activists we now refer to as the #Dallas9, were arrested and charged with obstructing a highway. They were booked into the Tarrant County jail and remained there until they were released the next day.
Two of the nine protestors are headed to trial October 21-23, and they need our support and presence in this Tarrant County courtroom. We need to let Tarrant County know that activists’ 1st amendment rights will not be trampled here. These same nine protestors actually shut down Interstate 35 in Dallas a few nights before the Arlington protest. And guess what? They were not arrested, nor were they charged with a crime. But, in Tarrant County, things are different. We need to stand up with the #Dallas9 to let them know we appreciate them coming to hostile Tarrant County to fight for justice with us.
The trial is expected to last three days.
Please show up for all three, or any time you can.
Trail starts at 8:30am each day and will probably carry into the evening each night. You don’t have to stay the whole time, and if you need to arrive later than 8:30am, you can.
Thank you for your support and thank you for standing with us in solidarity with the #Dallas9. Please share.
