My top priorities if re-elected is to continue the progress we have made in the last 18 years that I have served the citizens of Crowley. My goal is,and always has been, to keep Crowley a safe place to live and raise a family. Also to continue to seek after reputable business' to add to our sales tax base, which will help ease property taxes on our citizens.

I have served as Mayor for 18 years, city council member for 4 years, I have served on our Economic Development Board, Crowley Crime Prevention Board TIF Board, which gives me much more experience in city affairs such as budgeting, policy making, problem solving and daily operations.

3. WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE FAIREST WAY TO BALANCE THE TAX BURDEN IN YOUR COMMUNITY BETWEEN RESIDENTS, PROPERTY OWNERS, SMALL BUSINESSES, AND LARGER EMPLOYERS?

Continue to strive to bring in business', which brings in more sales tax dollars, which allows property tax relief for residents, property owners and residents.

4. PROPERTY TAXES ARE THE LARGEST SOURCE OF FUNDING FOR LOCAL SERVICES. THE STATE LEGISLATURE MAY LIMIT PROPERTY TAX REVENUE GROWTH AT 2.5 PERCENT PER YEAR. IF THIS BECOMES LAW, HOW SHOULD THE CITY COUNCIL ADDRESS THIS?
Billy Davis
At this time, the legislature seems to be excluding cities of our size, however if we are included, then our council will abide by it. Our goal will always be to keep taxes as low as possible and provide adequate services.
