What is a sales and use tax?
This is the formal name for a sales tax. Individuals pay sales taxes on most goods and services in Texas.
What is the current sales tax rate?
The base rate for the Texas sales tax is 6.25%. However, local government agencies(cities, counties, special purpose districts and transit authorities) can hold elections to increase the sales tax in their area. By law, the maximum sales tax rate (including state and local sales taxes) is 8.25%.
|Ballot Proposition||The legal sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages.
La venta legal de todas bebidas alcohólicas incluyendo bebidas mixtas.
|If I vote FOR||Liquor stores would be permitted within the Keller city limits, and mixed drink sales would be extended to a recently annexed area where they are not legal now. Mixed drink sales are already legal in the rest of Keller.|
|If I vote AGAINST||Liquor stores would not be permitted within the Keller city limits. Mixed drink sales would continue to be legal in most of Keller, but not in the recently annexed piece of land where it is now prohibited.|
|Ballot Proposition||The reauthorization of the local sales and use tax in the City of Keller, Texas at the rate of one-fourth of one percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets. The tax expires on the fourth anniversary of the date of this election unless the imposition of the tax is reauthorized.
|If I vote FOR||The Keller sales tax rate would continue to be 8.25%, and the maintenance and repair of city streets would be funded.|
|If I vote AGAINST||The Keller sales tax rate would decrease to 8.2475%, and maintenance and repair of city streets would not be funded.|
|Tax Consequences||None, if the proposition passes. If it fails, there would be a reduction to Flower Mound sales tax rate of one quarter of one percent.|
