What is a Crime Control and Prevention District?A CCPD is a special purpose district, which is used to support police programs and services geared toward preventing crime. The CCPD is governed by a board of directors, who are appointed by the city council. The board of directors is required to establish an annual budget, which must be approved by the city council, and the CCPD is required to submit to an independent audit on an annual basis. The CCPD is not a permanent body; voters must re-authorize its continuation.

In 2005, voters approved the creation of the Crowley CCPD, and voters re-authorized the CCPD sales tax in 2010.
