Candidate Q&A

1. WHY ARE YOU THE BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE?
Tim Brandenburg
Pat Gallagher
Experience and judicial temperament. Over 36 years I have tried nearly 300 cases to verdict in nine Texas counties. I have handled major litigation for individuals, corporations, and insurance companies in cases involving seven, eight, and nine figures, and I have been Board Certified for 31 years. I was appointed Judge of the 96th Judicial District Court by Governor Abbott in July 2020.
2. WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FEW PRIORITIES IF ELECTED?
Tim Brandenburg
Pat Gallagher
I will continue to run a fair and efficient court.
3. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY?
Tim Brandenburg
Pat Gallagher
I have a conservative judicial philosophy, which means that I don't make new laws; I apply the laws established by the Legislature and the Texas Supreme Court. A good judge does not decide who should win or lose and then make rulings to support a predetermined outcome. A good judge applies the law fairly to both sides and gives the right questions to the jury and then incorporates the verdict into the Judgment.
4. HOW MIGHT THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WHICH IS LIKELY TO BE AROUND FOR SOME TIME, AFFECT YOUR THINKING OR WORK ON THE COURT?
Tim Brandenburg
Pat Gallagher
Since the courts are not currently hearing jury trials, there will be a backlog of cases needing to be tried. My experience qualifies me to efficiently move cases through the docket because I have disposed of over 600 cases in the ten Tarrant District Courts since 1986.
5. ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO ADD?
Tim Brandenburg
Pat Gallagher
A good judge is fair, impartial, hard working, compassionate, knowledgeable, experienced, firm, and communicates well. I try to be that kind of judge every day and I promise to maintain these goals if I am fortunate to be elected November 3.
